Roundtables
Roundtables provide a forum for politicians to meet members of the business community and academia, NGOs and officials, in order to advance particular policy initiatives.
The e-Parliament’s first Roundtable took place in the offices of the French Minister for Energy, Ecology and Sustainable Development in November 2008, to discuss building long-distance energy transmission lines for renewable energy in the Europe Mediterranean region.

We intend this to be the first of a number of Roundtable discussions as part of our Supergrid Initiative – some of which may focus on convening specific parts of the potential coalition, such as regions rich in wind power, or the solar thermal energy industry, to discuss the Initiative from their perspective.
While Roundtables are currently only being planned for our work on the Supergrid Initiative, the same model can be used in other policy areas in the future.
